Salt & Light’s full time evangelist is ‘Mr Big’, otherwise known as Pete. Pete originally comes from Cornwall, but grew up in Somerset.

After ‘A’ Levels, he took a year out before going to Teacher Training college.   God’s call to leave and go to Bible College was not expected and was, at first, unwelcome. Teacher Training College was too much fun!

After much resistance, then, Pete moved to Elim Bible College where he spent two years as a student and one year helping out in the Language School.

During these years, Pete was involved in schools’ work and drama. He co-wrote and acted in a play that traveled the country, co-wrote and acted in programmes for the Far Eastern Broadcasting Association and was part of a team that led missions for young people around Great Britain. Since college, Pete and his wife have led a Christian drama group that appeared at Spring Harvest, The Black Pentecostal Church’s National Youth Rally, and Fresh Start For Hampshire as well as working with John Pantry and others.

From 1994 to 2004, Pete presented a monthly youth programme on ‘Good News Gwent’, a local tape ministry. In June 1996 he began presenting a regular programme on the Christian Satellite Station, UCB.

He also broadcasts regularly to Uganda.

For thirteen years Pete worked with the Post Office, reaching the position of Management Development Trainer.  Since leaving the Post Office, he has been heavily involved with schools' work and public speaking.  This has developed into an international ministry as a preacher, storyteller and juggler.

In turn, other opportunities to speak to community and charitable organisations have arisen.

Pete often works with SACRE, the Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education.

Pete has been married to Maggie since 1977; they have two sons, Richard and Ben. Richard is married to Siân. Ben is a teacher.
